Save money on Porsche Cayenne valve chest repairs at Revolution Porsche

Many first generation Cayenne owners have experienced problems with juddering and a loud clunking noise when changing gear (typically when shifting down from fifth or sixth, but it can affect the whole range), with the harsh changes making for an uncomfortable drive.

Some owners have also seen their Cayenne struggle with equally annoying transmission problems, including dropping out of gear and delayed shifts.

The most common reason for these problems, both on the Cayenne and the VW Touareg that uses the same transmission, is a damaged or worn valve chest (often referred to as the valve body). This part tells the transmission what to do, regulating gear and clutch engagements and directing the appropriate fluids to the right places.

The usual remedy had been to replace the valve chest unit, but the part alone costs four figures. The total bill for the work was around £1,500, once labour and new transmission oil and filter were included, so we decided to look for a more affordable option for Revolution Porsche customers.

We have now linked up with a highly-reliable company that is an expert in refurbishing valve chests, helping to return Cayenne transmissions to full working order. As a result, we can now repair the valve body for £949+VAT, including fitting and new oil, filter and gasket.

While the first symptoms of a damaged valve body may not seem that serious, living with the annoyance of some juddering on gear changes instead of getting the problem fixed can have serious consequences. Prolonged valve chest issues can result in the premature failure of other transmission components, meaning a much larger repair bill.

Book your Cayenne into the Revolution Porsche workshop in Brighouse when you first experience transmission problems and our experienced Porsche technicians will undertake an investigation and diagnose the exact problem and recommend the right course of action – whether that is a valve chest repair or another fix.
