Why is Mobil oil the best choice for your Porsche?

At Revolution Porsche, part of the reason we are confident we offer the best possible servicing and repairs is that we only use high-quality parts and fluids. For engine oil, in our opinion that means Mobil.

Porsche first selected Mobil as its factory-fill and recommended engine oil in 1996 and the two companies have worked together on technical programmes ever since. That made Mobil the obvious choice for our customers’ cars, but it is not the only reason we use the brand.

In our experience, Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 is the best performing oil for Porsches in the English climate, particularly for cars with engines that are ‘worn in’ and have reasonable mileage on the clock. Whether you put your Porsche through its paces at track days or just use it for short commutes from cold, we believe that this fully synthetic oil provides the best wear protection and so use it as standard for services at our Brighouse workshop.

There are some exceptions depending on the model and age of the car we are working on, such as using 10W-40 grade oil for older, air-cooled Porsches. The most common exception is for new cars, when we prefer Mobil 1 New Life 0W-40, the recommended factory-fill engine oil for most Porsche engines.

Mobil 1 New Life 0W-40 is one of the latest generation of fully synthetic oils developed to keep engines cleaner and help them run more efficiently, cutting fuel usage and reducing CO2 emissions. The oil and its specially-formulated additives were among the results of the joint Porsche-Mobil motorsport technical programme.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup championship is used as a research and testing platform for new oils that will eventually make it into road cars. Special track-optimised oil is used in the 450bhp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on race days, but Mobil uses information gained from the sports cars to develop its road products. Mobil engineers also provide technical support to Porsche’s World Endurance Championship team.
