Revolution Porsche Premium Protection Plan vs Standard Warranties

eagle

Working out how best to manage the cost of maintaining and repairing your Porsche isn’t easy; do you buy an aftermarket Porsche warranty or do you simply cross your fingers and hope nothing expensive goes wrong? At Revolution Porsche, we believe we’ve got the answer to that dilemma.

The Revolution Porsche Premium Protection Plan (PPP) is unlike the policies available from the major warranty providers. It combines servicing, repairs and the expertise of qualified Porsche technicians to give you protection against unexpected bills, rising motoring costs and the inconvenience of having your car off the road.

Here’s how it differs from standard warranty packages:

Servicing and MOT costs

Warranty packages all require the vehicle to be serviced in line with the manufacturer’s recommended schedule and failure to do so invalidates the policy. Obviously, regular servicing is good for your car, but it is an additional expense.

Unless you have the Revolution Porsche PPP, which includes the cost of labour, parts and materials required for all servicing, including spark plugs, drive belts, air, oil, pollen and fuel filters, brake fluid and oil. It also covers the cost of your annual MOT. The only additional charge you will incur for your servicing and MOT is if any faulty parts need to be replaced.

Wear and tear exclusions

Perhaps the most common complaint you will hear about aftermarket warranties is the number of policy clauses that exclude problems described as wear and tear. In fact, a Which? report on car warranties identified “numerous exclusions that could prevent you from making a claim” and warned that some policies did not provide cover for the repair of “failing parts”, while others excluded “worn out parts”.

At Revolution Porsche we believe in being straight with our customers and giving you a good deal. So the wear and tear terms in our PPP are unambiguous and, we believe, very fair.

Labour is covered for repairs to critical wear and tear items, including brakes, clutches and suspension faults, along with known problems such as the IMS bearing and RMS. So, you will pay for the parts used in such repairs, but the cost of a technician at a Porsche specialist to carry out the work is covered by the policy. All parts fitted under the PPP are covered by a 12-month warranty.

Porsche specialist technicians guaranteed

As all Porsche owners know, Porsches are not ordinary cars and only technicians with specialist knowledge should service and repair them.

That’s exactly what you get with the PPP, as work will be carried out by Revolution Porsche’s qualified technicians at our well-equipped workshop close to Junction 25 of the M62 in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. In the event that you suffer a breakdown, we offer a cost-effective recovery option to get your stricken Porsche to our garage as soon as possible.

Age of your Porsche

Third-party warranty providers draw up policies that include restrictions based on the age of the vehicle and how many miles it has covered. A 10-year-old car with 100,000 miles on the clock will receive a significantly lower level of cover than a newer model, while it can be difficult to find a worthwhile warranty for any vehicle more than 12 years old.

The PPP has no such restrictions. If your car is a Porsche, it is eligible for the PPP, regardless of how old it is, which model it is, how high the mileage is and how many miles you drive each year.

Warranty engineer authorisation

One of the main frustrations of having your car off the road comes when the work is delayed for no obvious reason. This is not usually the fault of the garage or dealer, as most car warranties (both manufacturer-backed and aftermarket) require the work to be approved before it begins and this can take some time.

The plan from Revolution Porsche is much simpler and, as we do not require warranty engineer authorisation to go ahead, you can expect your repairs to be completed quickly.

And if your Porsche is not repaired within 24 hours of arriving at the workshop following a breakdown, we will provide a free courtesy car, subject to availability.

General exclusions

We don’t believe in using terms and conditions packed with legal jargon and confusing definitions to outline the exclusions from your policy. Instead, we have a clear, simple and we believe fair list of things that are not covered.

It includes accident damage, tyre and windscreen repair or replacement, damage caused by water ingress, corrosion, repairs required because of incorrect charging or connection of the battery, or damage caused by abnormal use of the car (such as track days or a rolling road). You can download a copy of the policy to see the full list or contact us if you have any questions about exclusions.

One other thing to be aware of is that any performance part or upgrade fitted by another supplier will not be covered, unless specifically approved by Revolution. If your Porsche has had a performance upgrade and you are interested in the PPP, get in touch with us to see how it may affect your cover.
