We were delighted when one of our customers brought a 2004 550 Spyder 50th Anniversary Edition into our Brighouse workshop for us to work on.
Just 1,953 of this special Boxster S were made, as part of Porsche’s celebration of its famous 1950s race car. All were painted GT Silver Metallic and came with features including a lowered suspension, 5mm wheel spacers and a sports exhaust as standard, as well as being individually numbered.
The new owner of number 1,427 wanted to ensure his 105,000-mile example was in top condition for a European road trip – and we were happy to help.
During the two days we had the car, the Revolution Porsche technicians carried out a variety of work, including:
The owner also had a range of other work carried out, including full geometry at Center Gravity, Carnewal silencer, mesh fitted to the front bumper grilles, all four wheels refurbished and new Michelin Pilot Sports tyres, braided brake hoses and ATE racing fluid, new gear select cables, an aluminium rear lower suspension brace bar and new front engine mount.
All the work proved worthwhile, as the 550 Spyder 50th Anniversary Edition successfully completed a 2,100-mile road trip through Spain and France in September, with the testing route taking in the stunning scenery of the Col du Tourmalet and Col d’Aubisque passes in the Pyrenees, along with Mont Ventoux, Col du Galibier and Col de l’Iseran in the Alps.
It was great to be part of a project that maximised the potential of a beautiful rare Porsche – and we’re still a little jealous of that road trip!
